This place was really great. It was a little dead for trivia on Tuesday night, but the $5 burger deal was incredible. All of our party's burgers were delicious. The portion sizes were a bit small for the fries, but who can beat it at that price?

An Irishman walks out of a bar; it could happen! You just experienced the world's shortest Irish joke and that's a fitting way to begin this review. McGillicuddy's, often known as JDs, is a small local chain that doesn't quite know what it wants to be. There are six locations and I've visited three. The vibe of these places varies by location. It could be dive bar, sports bar, or restaurant. This location is in Upper Darby and feels like a dive bar to me. Maybe a little nicer than some, but still a dive bar. Take your sunglasses off when you walk in because it's dark in there. As with most bars there are several TVs and some sports logos posted around but not enough to elevate it to a true sports bar. Drink prices are average or even on the low side with plenty of specials. If you want some food that won't be a problem as the menu is extensive and inexpensive. Just about every kind if fried appetizer, burger, sandwich, pizza, or wing, is available. It's hard to find anything that costs more than $8 except for the large pizza. Expect your food to be decent but nothing special. You won't be using the term "gastro" here. There's a ton of competition within a mile or two and many of those competitors have easier parking. If your priorities are drinking first and eating second, you may want to give this place a try.

Yo this place is the tits... Great service and food! Bartenders are friendly, well trained, and the one Italian kid (dark one) has a great rear. Went there on a Thursday night and the Dj Tdocc killed it! A dude named Bernie should be hired to entertain every night he had me cracking up! Highly recommend this place, especially for their jd bites...the sauce is to die for!

I love this bar. I grew up in the neighborhood but no longer live in the area. Whenever I come back I always stop up to catch a football or baseball game and a cold beer. Friendly people, good games and great atmosphere.

I went here with 2 of my friends. The bartender was extremely unprofessional, or perhaps it was too professional. I haven't quite decided yet. Not only were we required to present 2 forms of identification, but she also quizzed us on the information on our licenses. After being accused of not being 21 (even though my 22nd birthday was in a week)and trying to pull "some little kid bull shit" (her words not mine), I felt extremely uncomfortable. If you want to waste your time and money for incredibly poor and unfriendly service, JDs is your spot.

A decent neighborhood bar, doesnt feel like a chain (even though there are a few of them around Philly). It's more of a sportsbar than an irish pub for sure. It was very clean and the bartender was nice. There were only about 4 people there at 9:30 on a Tuesday, but we got there in time to order food. It was $5 burger night and they were big and pretty good. Not mind blowing, but decent. A little skimpy on the fries that came with it. Bread seemed a little stale- but it was the end of the night. Free table shuffleboard, decent jukebox. Lots of food and drink specials on the board. I would totally go here once and a while if i lived nearer.

My fiancé and I heard they have Sunday morning breakfast here and wanted to try it out. I didn't expect much from a bar, but it blew me away. Great service and great food. My fiancé got the pancakes and sausage and they were great and my egg and cheese sandwich was delicious. I would go here any day over Kettle or any other local place.
